Rusal has expressed strong interest in bauxite mining in Fiji

UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminum producer, has expressed strong interest in bauxite mining in Fiji.

Three representatives from UC RUSAL met yesterday with Pene Baleinabuli, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, and expressed interest in opportunities to mine the country’s potential bauxite reserves and export the ore.

Baleinabuli stated that discussions on the matter are underway and highlighted the areas around Ba in northern Fiji and Lautoka in the west as potential sites for bauxite mining.
